Maite from the Dominican Republic and Shamil from Azerbaijan on their studies at VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava.
Maite from the Dominican Republic, student of Advanced Engineering Materials at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering:
When applying I didn't know the language, culture, who to contact, how to get here. But the University International Office helped me and my friends with absolutely everything. Also all my teachers are amazing people, kind, friendly and experts in their fields. The campus has everything, from excellent labs to a wide range of sports to offer. What I probably love the most is the fact that you get to know people from all over the world. Getting to know their culture, sharing everyday life with them is amazing. I'm very happy about my decision to come here.
Shamil from Azerbaijan, student of Economics:
My time spent in the Czech Republic studying at the VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava was with no doubt the most incredible experience of my life; meeting, living, and travelling with the other students who originate from all over the world. I made a lot of friends and loved Ostrava city.
I studied Economics, but the University has a specific program designed just for foreign students for each Faculty so it is easy to find subjects taught in English. Quality of education is high and I had a positive experience with all my teachers as they were friendly, very knowledgeable and experienced. Most of the classes were full of international students and the teachers loved hearing about our different countries. Teachers loved to focus on international perspectives and often asked students what the economics is like in their own countries.
